Renowned for its beauty, it features striking tones ranging from light brown to reddish, occasionally with dark streaks, lending a unique and luxurious aspect that derives its name. The grains can be straight or in uneven patterns, creating a unique design for each milled piece. Aside from its exceptional durability, the primary boast of this wood is its unsurpassed bending strength – even when compared to a high-quality Ipe.

Lonchocarpus is a dense, durable wood that naturally resists rot, decay, and insects, and it is highly resistant to shrinkage. It is also one of the woods with the best flame spread resistance, better than any ordinary wood, composite, or thermally modified materials.
